America entered World War I woefully underequipped and had to purchase or license French and British aircraft to meet its needs.
The de-Havilland D.H.4 was developed by the British but improved upon by Dayton-Wright with the addition of a more reliable power plant, the Liberty engine.  
A detailed  model for the adult collector
Not suitable for children under 14 years, some models may contain fine detailed points or edges.
